Four Healthy Foods For the Office

This is the day and time to start thinking about Healthy Foods for the Office. What better way to start then before you get out of bed in the morning, when you have reached your three week mark as a subscriber to my weekly email newsletter. We all know by now that when it comes to staying healthy, you need motivation and inspiration to adopt a healthier lifestyle. So, let’s jump right into this week and talk about adopting healthier habits.

This week I want to talk to you about my first experience using a success example to explain to you how you can also adopt a healthy eating plan for yourself. I’m going to give you a quick and simple overview of what I did. This is a success story of mine that I hope you take nothing away from. It’s definitely worth the read.

I’m going to share what I did with my own personal goal for the month. I didn’t adopt any particular healthy foods for the office. Instead I just asked my action step leaders to implement some healthier eating guidelines for the day and to adopt three small daily habits that they could live by for the whole month.

I was excited to see that all of my representatives were up for the challenge. The thing that was even more exciting for me, was that I was able to create a healthy food for the office challenge that I did not have to buy any prepackaged healthy foods for my team. I did not have to purchase any prepackaged drinks for the team. I did not have to spend any additional funds on any vending machines, or unhealthy snacks for the group. All I had to do was provide them with some printed out healthy foods for the week that they could cook themselves and eat in between meetings.

In order to help my Millennial employees set this challenge, we set up a simple meeting where each of them could express what they wanted to change. After my team reviewed their goals, I shared with them the four things that we felt strongly about. We then discussed ways that we could implement the changes into our weekly meetings. The first change was to adopt the habit of purchasing only one can of soup per person for dinner. This change made a huge difference because instead of having 20 cans of soup sitting around in the pantry, there was only one car available for a single person! The next change was to ask my staff to bring a bottle of water to work. When we talked about this change, it became clear that there was a very real need for bottled water in the workplace; people were not properly hydrated in the workplace! The third change we made was to create a new policy that required all of us to bring a bottle of water to work. I also let my team know that in order to be more successful in helping the environment and save money, we were going to have to increase the number of items that we recycle and that there would be a new jar or basket for this purpose each week.
